Project Overview

Ragnar Benson was selected by South Carolina Ports Authority to provide construction management services to construct an inland port in Greer, South Carolina. This project will improve the efficiency of intermodal containers between the Port of Charleston and the upstate region. The rail terminal will be constructed on a 70 acre site with track services provided by Norfolk Southern.

This facility will operate using gantry cranes to service two working rail trucks, empty container gantry cranes stacking containers 5 high, flat storage, and an Automatic Gate System to process the trucks entering and leaving the facility. This 70 acre facility includes 180,000 SY of RCC paving, 15,000 LF of track, excavation of 1.2 million yards of material, compressed air system, maintenance facility, administration building, truck wash, high mast lighting, security system, and WLAN system.
