In September Ragnar Benson began the renovation of the Seven Seas Dolphinarium at the Brookfield Zoo. The Brookfield Zoo’s three dolphins - Tapeko, Noelani, and Allison were relocated to the Minnesota Zoo on August 30th where they will stay until the renovation is complete. The dolphins will return and the Seven Seas will reopen for the summer of 2010.
The year 2010 marks Brookfield Zoo's 50th year of caring for dolphins. In celebration of this milestone year the following renovations are scheduled for the 20-year-old Seven Seas dolphin arena: relining of the pool, installation of a new HVAC system, upgrades to the water filtration system, roof repairs and increase of space on the center deck to allow for animal care needs.
