Project Overview
This facility, including two buildings and an elaborate tunneling system, was constructed for the NuMI/MINOS experiment at the Department of Energy's Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, and for the international collaboration of scientists who will perform and research particle physics. Structural steel, masonry, and insulated metal panels were used to construct the MI65 and MINOS buildings. Underground work consisted of concrete, masonry, process piping, ventilation systems, pumping systems, and electrical services for a tunnel that is 4,800 lineal feet long, 21 feet in diameter and located 300 feet underground.
